I'm Kara, a 40-something woman who enjoys making and doing; practical one might say!
We don't have a TV and so have lots of time in the evenings to have a go at all those things that I've always wanted to have a go at. I created this blog to share my success's and failures with like minded people who also like to experiment and give it a go rather than buy brand new or get someone to do it for you every time!
We are fairly "Planet Ark-y" as a friend of our recently complained - and are constantly looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment, lower our bills and live a simpler life with less consumerism and ultimately - enjoy life!
The blog name comes partly from people often telling me, "Oh, you're so practical" and partly from our family name which has "frog" in it - my husband and my father-in-law both get called Froggy all the time - being a woman I guess that should make me a Frogg-ette, Frogg-ella or Frogg-ina!
I lived on a large suburban block in Brisbane when I started this blog. I wasn't able to grow veges despite all that room despite trying for many many years. Although we do have chickens, a worm farm, a cat, quite a few native bee hives, a few quail lots and lots of trees and fantastic neighbours!! We moved in 2017 to a small house block in the Gold Coast Hinterland and are starting again from scratch. The house is very small, very old and energy guzzling! there is potential for veges and lots of experiments - join me on the next stage of our journey towards a frugal, green satisfying life in the Hinterland!
If you want to have a look around our old back yard - the link is here.
